"I can't believe I won the Red Dot Design Concept Award for the Looking Glass concept!" writes Mac Funamizu in his blog, with characteristic humility. "This is really exciting for me because it's the first award I won since I became a designer." If anything, we're surprised that this is the first award won by the Tokyo-based Funamizu, as he frequently makes the blog rounds for his eye-popping product concepts.
The Looking Glass is intended to be a "real-time information visualization helper:"
It gives you a transparent layer between your eyes and the scene behind the lucent screen. So you can specify anything through the glass by just pointing at it (clicking it). Choose what kind of information you need and it automatcially receives the information with WiFi from the internet. The GPS installed in the device helps you search for the more specific local information you need.
It doesn't just give you text and numbers. Utilizing the real view you're seeing through the glass, it provides you with visualized information you intuitively understand.
