The Dutch are a punctual people, but in the province of North-Brabants there is a phrase allowing for an exception to this: 'Brabants Kwartiertje' (Brabant quarter-hour), which is invoked or remembered when appointments don't quite line up.
Dutch designer Coen van Ham has in fact designed a watch around this principle. As he explains it, "[Brabants Kwartiertje] doesn't mean being late for an appointment, it means giving people the attention they deserve. In practice, this subtle watch or clock gives you a moment to focus on what's really important: time for each other."
