An Inside Look at Renny Ramakers' House
All images and captions from Sight Unseen. The clock on the wall is an antique, from the '20s.I have always loved the intimacy of artists and everyday people opening up their unstyled homes and studios to prying eyes. With the popularity of sites like TheSelby and publications like Apartamento this doesnt feel like an especially fresh phenomenon but it never ceases to thrill me when I get a sneak peak into the details of lived-in spaces. The ladies over at Sight Unseen recently published a great look at Renny Ramakers' (Co-founder and Director of Droog) Amsterdam abode. I love how travel souvenirs and found objects sit side-by-side with icons of design. Check out the jump for some of my favorites and see the rest of the gallery here!
"This table is from Dakar," Ramakers says. "I found it in a shop completely covered in dust—you could hardly see how beautiful it was. I cleaned and disinfected it."
This artwork is by Berend Strik, who embroiders photographs. 
DIY Delft flower pyramid made from paper, variations on which can be found in souvenir shops around Amsterdam.
The red plastic jug on the top shelf is an anonymous everyday object from Indonesia. "It's for water, and it was a present," says Ramakers. "I never use it, but I like this mysterious side of an object, where you can't tell whether it's art or not."-
