Clipless: Stick Your Phone to Anything (Including You)

They Innovate Inc. is the name of an upstart design company out of Port Hope, Canada. Focusing on the phone mounting space, their first product is the Clipless, a magnetic means of attaching your phone or tablet to any surface (including your own clothes).

Early prototypes were 3D-printed, but the team didn't get much traction; early test runs indicated what more and more people are discovering—not everyone digs the occasionally janky results you get with 3D-printed plastic. But after switching to a CNC mill and changing materials to aluminum, user feedback went positive and the group knew they had a hit on their hands.

They Innovate started up a Kickstarter campaign for Clipless, which easily hit their modest $25,000 funding goal. There's still 18 days left to pledge, but early adopters had better hurry—the $17 buy-in slots are all gone, and you'll need to pony up $35 to get in on the action.

@Tom Mc A medical grade version is in the works. We currently do not recommend using Clipless on medical devices.

@Eric The connector works on phones, but also on cases. We expect more people will stick the connector to a case.

@Eric: If you want to use Clipless with a case, we recommend applying the connector to your case instead of the phone. Check out "Does it work with my case?" in the above link.

@Tom Mc : As one of the co-founders, I can say that we definitely do NOT recommend using Clipless if you have a pacemaker/defib. Check out "Are there any adverse health effects?" in the above link. As for the credit card concern, check out the video under "Is it safe around credit cards?".

There is still a clip! and it's permanently attached to my phone, then I can't mount it in my car, or on my bike, or use it with the stand the I already have on my desk or the wireless charging pad that I have built into my night stand......
What if people want to have a case on their phones?

Looks like a great idea but if I had a pacemaker/defib I'd definitely not risk it. Also I wonder if the flux on that field is sufficient to change information on credit cards in close proximity..
