Salone Milan 2011 Preview: D\ZEN by CTRLZAK Art & Design Studio
Milan's very own CTRLZAK Art & Design Studio is set to present their latest furniture design project, D\ZEN, at the Salone next month. The series alludes to Zen Buddhism as it might be fused with minimalist geometry: a stick, crafted in solid metal, supports a trapezoidal volume with a single mirrored panel to form a coffee table and matching stool.

The design refers to the Buddhist practice of placing sticks under boulders such that the sticks appear to support the weight of stone. CTRLZAK's Thanos Zakopoulos & Katia Meneghini have translated this imagery into contemporary furniture design.
