A coracle is a type of primitive boat invented in Wales. The unique design consists of a willow-rod framework tied together with bark strips, then skinned with an animal hide and rendered watertight with tar. Designed for rivergoing fishermen, the one-man craft is light enough to be carried across one's back.
While the design has been around since at least the Bronze Age, Benjamin Hubert has come up with a modern-day application for the construction: A lounge chair.
By swapping out willow rods for a steel frame, and inspired by bicycle handle wraps made of suede, Hubert created the Coracle Lounge Chair, distributed by fellow UK outfit De la Espada.
