CG kicked off this discussion by expressing his need for a sweet clock radio--snooze being a "must." Why does it seem like clock radios got the shaft as far as good ID goes? Regular clocks are doing quite swimmingly. If it's not straight up fugliness, it's usability, size or shape, fragility (for snooze slammers), or price. The one on the left is a Phillip Starck weather station, clock radio. You can find them cheap at Overstock. I fell in love when I first spotted these a year or so ago and was stoked when I found them on sale and I wondered why they were going for half price. Well, yeah they look sweet and all but when it comes to simple things like, well, most all the basic functions - tuning the radio, changing the time or the batteries it's one of the most unintuitive, cumbersome and poorly designed products I've ever encountered. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the simplicity of my Macs and the ease of putting together Ikea products. All I know is that any and every time I interact with my Starck clock it's like working with left-handed scissors. (I'm right handed by the way.) I still love the way it looks and functions but getting there is a real pain in the ass. You've been warned!

I think it projects the time onto the ceiling, assuming the ceiling is flat.
