First day at the Valencia Design Week 2010 today. First on the list was "Uniendo Puntos"—meaning "Connecting the Dots"—an exhibition intended to showcase craft and design talent from across the Spanish speaking world, with contributors from Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and El Salvador.
The exhibition, curated by local designer Luis Eslava, will be on show at the Sala Estudio General. La Nau, Valencia until October 24th.
"Marks"—stickers for the ultra-anal by Ivan Exposito.
"Plagas Biblicas"—Quirky ceramics from a collection depicting, as the name suggests, the biblical plagues.
"Pack of Dogs" is a pair of unusual bookshelves. The partcipants were clearly keen to illustrate their products flexibility of use (below).
Pick of the exhibition was, perhaps, these tiles, entitled "Chidad", from a collective calling themselves "Job". When assembled the abstract patterns form an image referencing the urban landscape of the Mexican city (below).
"For La Feliz" is a collection of lamps constructed from recycled foam pieces by Argentinian double team Patricio Lix Klett and Celester Bernardini.
Impressive silverwork from Clara Saldarriaga of Colombia.
And last but not least, a great set of recycled and anodized aluminium vases by Brunno Jahara called "Batucada".
