The exhibition In Praise of Shadows that happened in the V&A during the London Design Festival, marked the decision by EU governments to phase out low efficiency light bulbs by 2012. It included work by a wide variety of designers such as Drift, Pieke Bergmans, Loop.ph and many more, as well as films by Clan du Neon - French eco activists who protest against the senseless waste of energy and light pollution by extinguishing neon advertising signs. The show was set up in a dark room containing objects of the museum's collection. The only light sources were some of the exhibits on show as well as a torch light that each visitor was given when entering. A very unique and fun show, creating a culture clash and almost mystical sense when exploring it - exhibition design at its best.
