Minima's Ultimate Connection exhibition, in conjunction with this month's DesignPhiladelphia, collected projects that exemplify the connection between craft and industry in today's design market. Projects included Marcel Wander's Knotted Chair and Daniel Michalik's cork Cub chair, craft furniture in some respects, but also manufactured products.
In addition to Ultimate Connection, Minima hosted the opening reception for FABLASTIC: Upcycled, a series of workshops with local weaver Janell Wysock on weaving plastic bags into works of art. At the event, she demonstrated how to weave rugs from plastic bags with a loom located on Minima's bottom floor.
Outside, Philadelphia's "midnight knitter" made a rare public appearance, knitting a full-length sock for a tree directly in front of the storefront, just in time for the chilly breezes October has brought into the city.
