Becky Stern, Director of Wearable Electronics, Adafruit Presentation: Panel – Integrated Technology
How much does technology determine your day to day? Through this panel, "Integrated Technology," we'll look into how designers are integrating technology into our daily lives, at two scales.
Along with Google UX Manager, Ricardo Prada, Becky Stern will talk about the individual/personal aspects of putting tech on and around your body including identity, expression & fashion, enhancing our natural abilities/senses, privacy and technological literacy/engineering education. Ricardo will bring to the table his broader, community/society experience working on things like self-driving cars. This is sure to be a lively discussion!Becky is known for creating DIY wearable electronics projects you can build at home and showing you step-by-step how to make them. She's the Director of Wearable Electronics at Adafuit, an educational electronics kit company in NYC that manufactures hardware for hobbyists, students, engineers, fashion designers and anyone else who wants to build their own tech. As such, she's focused on making fun projects and videos with Adafruit components to inspire and kick off their customers' creations. Some of her favorites include a jacket that turns off TVs, a skirt that flashes when you dance and a GPS light-up bike helmet that navigates you to the nearest bikeshare docking station.
Make sure to read our previous speaker profile featuring Tim Parsons and Jessica Charlesworth of Parsons & Charlesworth. Register now to attend this fun, forward thinking discussion at the 2014 Core77 Conference. We'll see you June 19th at 501 Union!
