Each year an estimated 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. Unfortunately, less than 5% of those plastic grocery bags are recycled in the U.S., which means that roughly 95,000,000,000 plastic bags are floating around the world every single year.
Müll is a collection of art, design objects, and furniture created by recycling and transforming some of this plastic bag waste.
Carter Zufelt, designer
It is simple: there is way too much plastic trash in the world. We set out to fix this and ended up creating a new recycling process that illustrates the beauty of recycling.
It took years of hard work and lots of failed attempts, but we fine tuned the process to create refined products from recycled material. We quickly realized that to obtain these fantastic results we needed an indirect heat source as well as lots of consistent pressure. We continued to push the envelope of what was possible with plastic trash and were very pleased with our discovery and end result.
The colors and patterns you see are created solely from this special process, which involves heat, consistent pressure, and time. There are no colors added, dyes, or anything of the like.
The Kickstarter is a way to get the word out quickly and get more plastic off the streets.
